Problem Solving

While I was helping the children get ready to go outside one morning, I all of a sudden heard a child shout, "I'm bleeding!!!!" So I turned to the child, saw his cheek was bleeding (where a scab had been) and asked him what had happened. He replied, "I didn't want my ouchie on my face anymore. So I tear-ed it off."

Don't you love hearing their language develop? They internalize the rule of adding -ED to form the past tense before they learn all the irregulars (as you know, I'm sure). Griffin (almost four) is currently saying "hadded" a lot! ("I hadded to go potty.")

Hearing their language develop is so fun! We have one bilingual child in our class (she speaks Hebrew at home) and I really love to listen to what she comes up with!
